Project inspired by Icelandic musicians Sigur Ros and their gibberish language ‘Vonlenska’. An attempt to “create” a form of language through the medium of dissecting the phonology of gibberish, and combining this with musical terminology; developing a system of symbols representing the song ‘Untitled 8 (Popplagið)’ on their 3rd album ( ).

Using Icelandic folklore, mythology and Viking runic languages, a beautiful end product came into fruition.

Drawing influence from the ancient runic language of Iceland and their magical stamps for runes, I began to experiment with unique runic variations for each ‘sound’. Initially these designs started quite basic, with each phonological sound being represented by a symbol.
